Nothing can survive without harmony. From a single-celled organism to complex ecosystems, nothing can persist without harmony. Whether it’s the human organism or corporate organization, harmony is an integral part of what lets both exist.

Harmony is a state of wholeness, enoughness, and contentment. It’s complete onto itself, perfectly balanced. There’s assurance in it and love. It’s peaceful and quiet.

It’s a sustaining state. It feeds and nourishes. It moisturizes and keeps all parts working together smoothly.

What disrupts harmony? A racing mind does. A restless heart too. Too active? Too sedentary? Always in your head? Avoiding your feelings?

These are all harmony disruptors. Even what we eat can improve or ruin harmony. Harmony is resilient but also sensitive. It has a flow to which we can be tuned.

Harmony conserves mental energy; disharmony dissipates it.

— Paramahansa Yogananda

Harmony is also unity, the oneness of all things living, creation itself, and the Creator (however one relates to That). In unity there’s a strong feeling of wholeness. Harmony feels whole. Harmony is at its peak when we’re at one with ourselves, others, the environment and the universe. When there’s separation, there’s disharmony. Whatever wedges itself to disturb a deep sense of oneness, brings with it the challenges of duality and disconnection.

We live in harmony if in our consciousness, our heart-mind, and our body we embody Oneness.

Harmony is a state of peace. Peace or harmony don’t mean that there aren’t difficulties, delays, annoyances. When you access ground states that are available by living a spiritually conscious life, they connect within you and others become available too. If there’s harmony, there’s also wisdom. Wisdom discerns for us how to navigate troubles, traffic jams and tardiness.

When the mind lacks harmony, it has no peace; and without peace it lacks both judgment and wisdom.

— Paramahansa Yogananda

Harmony resides in the soul and lives in the heart center within us. It can be found in nature and the cycles of life. When we make space and time for our innate spirituality, we also embody our soul and its divine qualities. We find both soul and harmony in heart-based being.

The soul is in harmony because it has access to the whole tableau. We can just stop. Simply stop. Be with the center of our chest and feel in there a stillness, accompanied by harmony. And love. Our soul is full of love. We have to be loving to find harmony.

There’s a purity to harmony.

Harmony is the secret principle that controls life; without it life will disintegrate.

— Paramahansa Yogananda
